The story of our union
Creation of MUGEC
Official birth of the non-profit association in Kolwezi with the will to unite residents against precarity through local collective savings.
Federation of 150 VSLA groups
Rapid expansion in peripheral neighborhoods like Kapata. More than 5,000 neighbors organize and secure their solidarity savings.
Launch of IGA & agro-ecology support
Direct support for market gardeners and small local farmers to turn financial mutual aid into concrete food security.
More than 10,500 active members
With a 97% repayment rate, MUGEC is the leading independent community mutual aid network in Lualaba.
